We partner with instructional and financial leaders to ensure clarity around funding, district support, and expectations at every stage.

The eMINTS National Center is an outreach unit of the University of Missouri and has been serving educators around the world for over 25 years. Our materials are backed by research, are grounded in our eMINTS Instructional Model, and are designed to meet the needs of professional educators. Our professional learning experiences are designed by educators, with educators, and for educators.

As a non-profit, we want to ensure that all educators have access to high-quality professional learning experiences. We actively write grants to secure funding for our programs so we can offer our programs at little to no cost to schools. We are currently offering the opportunity to participate in the following grant-funded programs.

PAL Classrooms 2.0

Middle school implementation (6 – 8 grade)
  • All teachers who support 6 – 8 grade students are encouraged to participate, but a MINIMUM of 2 teachers are required.
  • Layers of Professional Development
  • Teachers – 40 hrs online (blend of self-paced and virtual meetings)
  • Teacher-Leaders – 18 hrs (virtual meetings & coaching)
  • Administrators – 18 hrs (blend of self-paced and virtual meetings)

Talk to Read

2nd and 3rd grade literacy teachers
  • All teachers who support 2 – 3 grade students are encouraged to participate, but a MINIMUM of 1 teacher is required.
  • Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, & Oklahoma
  • Blended PD & Support
  • Teachers – 40 hours of professional learning
  • 4 in-person PD days (22 hrs total)
  • 3 virtual sessions (5.5 hrs total)
  • 3 in-class coaching visits
Program Benefits
  • Make Literacy Real: Amplify Student Voice & Experience: By adding relevance to reading skills, teachers encourage student voice and experience to make literacy both meaningful and impactful.
  • Level Up Your Literacy Approach: Teachers learn ways to add to their repertoire of literacy strategies and approaches to embed into and enhance their current curriculum.
  • Increase Student Engagement in Literacy: By using students’ own language and experience within familiar literary structures, teachers increase student engagement and sight vocabulary acquisition.

LEGACY

6-8TH Grade Teachers in Missouri and surrounding states
  • U.S. Dept of Ed American History & Civics grant awarded Sept 2025 funds LEGACY PD, seminars and student events to celebrate the U.S. semiquincentennial.
Program Benefits
  • Provides educator seminars about Constitutional Democracy and Civil Dialogues
  • Invites 6th graders to Civics Bee and HS students to Constitutional Democracy Academy
  • A self-paced online course (12 hrs)

eMINTS Role: Lead Grantee

Total Award: $3.9 Million

Timeframe: 2021-2026

School Districts Served: Still in Implementation

Students Served: Still in Implementation

In 2021 eMINTS was awarded a $3.9 million EIR grant by the United States Department of Education for Project eDGE. This five-year STEM education initiative targeted 5th-grade classrooms in rural Missouri and is in its final year of implementation. The program provides guided inquiry curriculum and teacher training to integrate computer science and computational thinking into math and science via video game design activities.

eMINTS Role: Lead Grantee

Total Award: $4 Million

Timeframe: 2018-2023

School Districts Served: 7 Districts in Missouri

Students Served: 2,500+

The PAL program focused on blending prosocial classroom practices with STEM learning in rural schools. eMINTS implemented this in elementary schools in seven school districts in Missouri. The PAL initiative showed promising results in reducing disruptive behavior and improving teacher morale, paving the way for a larger scale-up (see PAL 2.0).

eMINTS Role: Lead Grantee

Total Award: $14.6 Million

Timeframe: 2018-2023

School Districts Served: 58 Middle Schools in Missouri & Kansas

Students Served: 26,000+

SEED, the largest grant in the University of Missouri’s history, was awarded to eMINTS in 2018. This five-year project worked in 58 middle schools to enhance teaching quality and engagement in STEM classes in rural communities.

eMINTS Role: Lead Grantee

Total Award: $12.3 Million

Timeframe: 2010-2015

School Districts Served: 60 Middle Schools in Missouri

Students Served: 10,000+

The Investing in Innovation (i3) grant funded a five-year randomized controlled trial of the eMINTS Comprehensive Professional Development Program. This project produced evidence of improved student outcomes and met What Works Clearinghouse standards for effectiveness (moderate to strong evidence).
